The Greenwich Wine + Food Festival

This weekend I had the privilege to head out on a gorgeous September day down to Roger Sherman Baldwin waterfront park in Greenwich, Connecticut for the Greenwich Wine + Food Festival. The sixth annual festival benefitted The Hole in the Wall Gang Camp Charity in a phenomenal way. Presented by Serendipity Magazine, the festival included 200+ food and beverage participants at the 2016 festival that proved to be an impressive roster.

Greenwich Wine + Food Festival

The Ultimate Sandwich Tent

With the atmosphere a buzz, we walked into our first tent, the Ultimate Sandwich Tent. The tent was serving up unique and innovative Sandwich creations where we had our first bite of the 2016 Greenwich Wine + Food Festival and one of my favorites of the night. The ideal creation blends together breakfast plus lunch, doesn’t it? Enter the sandwich from Judy’s Bar + Kitchen. Stacked up on an indulgent waffle included fried chicken, sliced cheese, bacon, a special sauce and topped with pickles. So damn good, it was love at first bite. Judy’s also took home the Judge’s choice of the day! Just the one tent alone would have been enough tasting event for me, every sandwich creation up to par.

The Grill Masters Tent

Onto the Grill Masters Tent where the boys in blue overalls and savory smells from Hoodoo Brown Barbecue beckoned us over. There is only one thing I may love as much as good food and that’s playing well on your theme, these guys and gal rocked it out with character. Their brisket was smoked to perfection for 20 hours. Moving down the tent we got in line for Festivities Events and Catering sliced steak with choice of chimichurri sauces. You could choose between classic, Orange and Mint, or Kale and Jalapeño sauces. All so good. This was Joey’s top pick. Needless to say he wasn’t happy with me when I loaded up his last bite with mashed potatoes and stole it. That’s why I shouldn’t be allowed to share!

Here we also feasted on pizza slices from Amore Cucina and Bar and some of the creamiest creamed spinach I’ve ever had at Benjamin Steakhouse. The Grill Master’s tent accumulated to nothing short of foodie perfection.

The South of the Border Tent

My favorite tent was the South of the Border Tent where the party was happening. Bodega Taco Bar seemed to be the host of the party with the line for the taco truck wrapped around the tent deeming it’s taco’s instantly ‘most popular’ by the high demand. Their front service handed out gorgeous crimson colored shots of tequila that packed a delicious punch. Across the way we sipped on reds and whites and worked our way over to the blue Don Julio Truck between taco bites. Later in the evening, we dodged the line for Bodega and finally got to try their tacos, covered in grilled brussels. My favorite flavorful pick of the night.

Burger Battle Tent

Have you ever seen burgers stacked all the way to Heaven? Because really…what else could sky high burgers be? Ask Plan B who layered up an awesome display of burgers for the wow factor. Here in the burger tent we were able to watch live demos by Fleishers Craft Butchery and see the top burger joints battle it out! This year’s Burger Battle had two winners: Cask Republic for the win of the Judge’s Choice and Bareburger won the People’s choice vote. Extra pickles on my burger please!Greenwich Wine + Food FestivalGreenwich Wine + Food Festival

The sun started to set just in time for the mood to kick in for Ziggy Marley and Old Black Crow in Concert. Grabbing another glass of vino, we headed over to the water as we listened to reggae with a gorgeous harbor view. We watched the sun go down before heading back to the tents for just a few more bites. See you next year at the Greenwich Wine + Food Festival!
